Crown House is a cosy, grade II listed, tastefully decorated, 16th Century house, full of character, books and art, exposed beams and an open fire with rooms boasting kingsize beds; fine down duvets and pillows, Egyptian cotton sheets and sympathetically designed, modern bathrooms.
With 4 double bedrooms (2 with extra single beds) and 3 bathrooms, the cottage sleeps 10. The Garden Room is situated on the ground floor and has a shower room with a huge walk in shower. The Turret Room, the most romantic of the 4, located on the first floor with stairs up to the bathroom above with a huge roll top bath and a view of the parkland of Glemham House (belonging to the Earl & Countess of Cranbrook). There are steep winding stairs and a low beam in the bathroom. The Rose Room, also on the first floor, is very prettily decorated. It is a double aspect room with a family bathroom - shower over bath. All the above rooms have king-size mahogany sleigh beds with low footboard; pocket sprung mattresses, fine down pillows and duvets and white Egyptian cotton bed linen. The Blue and White Stripy has a double and a single bed. The kitchen boasts a 4 ovened Aga (switched off in the summer), electric cooker, dishwasher and a dining table that seats 8 comfortably. There is a large sitting room with 2 long sofas, an open log fire and a smart TV. The Garden is about a 3rd of an acre and is split between 2 cottages. There is an Indian fire bowl for outdoor cooking and outdoor dining furniture. The owner Sasha lives next door with her Boston Terriers and a cat and can be on hand to assist if any issues arise. Opposite Crown House you will find The Crown Inn, which offers home cooked food and a fine selection of ales. (Check for opening times) and there are many idyllic walks on offer in the fields and woods surrounding the village.
